Fichajes: Man City ready to offer Milan nine-figure deal for Leao

By Ben Dixon -

Rumours about Rafael Leao’s future have continued to grow, and there is now another of Europe’s elite interested in AC Milan’s prized asset.

In recent weeks, there have been very concrete links between Milan and Paris Saint-Germain for Leao, given Kylian Mbappe is likely to depart this summer and the Parisian club want to reshape their squad.

However, as reported by the Spanish paper Fichajes, there is interest from England in the Portuguese winger, with the report suggesting that Manchester City are ready to make a ‘super offer’ to the Rossoneri for Leao.

Despite recently signing a new contract with the Diavolo, the Citizens are not deterred by this, and they would be willing to offer €100million for him. However, with his release clause worth €150million, the club would likely hold out for a fee closer to this amount.

There have been clubs interested in Leao due to his quality and rapid progression over the past few years, and if the price is right, the Rossoneri would let go of the winger, but only on their terms.

    1. The release clause isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Milan will take €100-120 million, as they should, because another season like this and his value drops further.

  1. Sell for 130, and buy Chiesa for 40 or Kvaratskheila for 80 mil. And use one of those two on left, or sometimes Pulisic on left with Chuku on right. With okafor on left too

    1. This is your brilliant idea? Waste the money on the injury prone Chiesa and Krava? There are much cheaper, better options and a striker is more of a priority. Left wingers are easy to find.

  2. I’d take anything in the 120M-150M range for Leao. I’d also sell Maignan for 50M+ and take whatever we can get for Thiaw.

We have Pulisic, Chuk (poor, so far, but I’d give him this and next year before writing him off, and think he might thrive under a real coach) and Okafor that can play wing, and for only 16M (according to Transfermarkt), we can bring Wilfried Gnonto back to Italy. I know he was an Inter youngster, but he’s pacy and dangerous.

Figure we need to spend 20M-30M for a good keeper to replace Magic Mike, so I’m estimating that will leave us something in the 120M-150M range (assuming Mike buys us the keeper plus Gnonto and we don’t get much for Thiaw). I have plenty of thoughts, but 120M-150M can get us a defensive midfielder, a center back and a striker of the future.

Maybe we can spend 5M-10M per year, and get a top notch coach, as well.
    Just my opinion.
