CM: Motta has Bologna dreaming of the Champions League – he remains on Milan’s list

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna recorded yet another crucial victory yesterday against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, keeping their top four charge alive under Thiago Motta.

As Calciomercato.com report, it is a result that comes from many equally determining factors: Joshua Zirkzee’s talent, the sporting director Sartori’s knowledge, the seriousness of the club’s project and perfect guidance from Motta.

The Rossoblu are beginning to dream not just about a return to Europa, but being part of the biggest competition of all and the revenues that it would bring, even if Atalanta are on a roll as well.

Bologna hope to continue along the path with Motta for at least another season and they could use playing in European competitions as their main argument for doing so.

However, it will not be easy because his deal expires in June and Juventus have put him top of their wish list should Max Allegri decide to leave at the end of the season. Juve will offer Allegri a renewal, but the decision on the future will be his.

Motta, barring any surprises, will still coach in Italy next season. He also remains a strong option for Milan because Stefano Pioli is still not certain of keeping his position and the Rossoneri management really like the former PSG man as his replacement.

At the moment the idea of Motta returning to Barcelona is losing steam because they seem to want to focus on Roberto De Zerbi. For now he wants to make history by taking Bologna to the Champions League.
